Shelley Osman – Yoga Classes
Terms & Conditions
Please read all the information below
These Terms & Conditions help ensure that classes run safely, fairly and sustainably for everyone. Please take the time to read them and respect the arrangements that allow Shelley to continue teaching.
1. Block Bookings and Reserved Places
-
Classes are booked in blocks, with payment made in advance.
-
Each block may contain a different number of classes, depending on the teaching schedule. The dates, number of classes and total fee will be communicated before bookings open.
-
A full block booking reserves your usual place in your chosen class for the duration of that block.
-
Full block booking is the most cost-effective option and the only way to guarantee your usual weekly place.
-
Payment must be received by the stated deadline to secure your place for the next block. If payment is not received, your place may be offered to another student.
-
Once a block has started, the full block fee remains payable, even if you subsequently miss classes or have planned absences.
2. Fees and Payment
-
60-minute classes: £10 per class.
-
90-minute classes: £16 per class.
-
The total fee for each block is calculated according to the number of classes scheduled within that block. The dates, number of sessions and total cost will be communicated before bookings open.
Fees must be paid in advance by the stated deadline. Your place is not confirmed until payment has been received.
Any changes to fees will be communicated in advance.
3. Occasional Drop-In Classes – £20 per Class
The £20 drop-in rate is available only to:
-
People who are new to yoga and wish to try a class.
-
People who live outside the local area and visit occasionally.
Drop-ins must be booked and paid for in advance and are subject to availability.
This option is not intended as an alternative to block booking for regular local students who wish to attend only selected weeks.
4. Selected Sessions for Existing Students – £22 per Class
(For existing students who take several holidays throughout the year, regularly visit a holiday home, or have other commitments that mean they can only attend selected dates.)
Existing students who cannot attend every week may request to book selected sessions at £22 per class.
-
Dates must be agreed with Shelley and paid for in advance.
-
Availability is not guaranteed until the booking has been confirmed.
-
Your place is guaranteed only for the specific dates booked and paid for.
-
This option does not reserve your usual weekly place for dates you have not booked, or for future blocks.
-
Un booked spaces may be offered to students booking a full block.
-
If you wish to guarantee your usual place every week, you must book and pay for the full block.
One-off alternative arrangements may be considered for established students experiencing particularly difficult personal circumstances. These must be discussed and agreed with Shelley in advance. Such arrangements do not create an automatic entitlement to the same arrangement in future blocks.
5. Missed Classes and Planned Absences
-
Missed classes are non-refundable and cannot be carried forward to another block.
-
The full block fee remains payable if you wish to retain your reserved place during holidays or other planned absences.
-
Please let Shelley know about any known absences at the beginning of the block wherever possible.
-
If you know you can attend only certain dates, you may request the selected-session option, subject to the conditions above.
6. Swapping Classes
Swaps between Monday and Thursday classes may be possible, subject to availability.
-
At least one week’s notice is required.
-
Please contact Shelley before assuming a swap can be arranged.
-
A swap is not confirmed until Shelley has agreed to it.
-
Last-minute swaps and repeated rearrangements cannot routinely be accommodated.
Swaps are not guaranteed, as class numbers and available spaces must be managed fairly for everyone.
7. Cancellation or Changes by Shelley
If Shelley needs to cancel or reschedule a class, she will notify students as soon as reasonably possible.
Where a class is cancelled by Shelley, she will communicate the alternative arrangements, eg. a replacement class.
If closure of the venue is required for either weather events or force majeure (which are out of Shelley' control), a replacement class or refund will not be offered.
8. Cancellation by the Student
Once a block has been booked and paid for, the full block fee remains payable. Missed classes cannot be refunded or transferred to another block.
For selected sessions and drop-in classes, payment is required in advance. Fees are non-refundable if you are unable to attend.
If your circumstances change significantly and you need to stop attending, please let Shelley know as soon as possible. This does not automatically entitle you to a refund or transfer.
9. Private One-to-One Sessions
Private sessions must be booked and paid for in advance.
At least 72 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange a private session. Cancellations made with less than 72 hours’ notice will be charged in full, as the time has been reserved specifically for you.
10. Health, Medical Conditions and Student Responsibility
Your safety and wellbeing are important. Yoga involves physical movement, and it is your responsibility to participate within your own abilities and limitations.
-
Before your first class, you must complete a health questionnaire and provide accurate, relevant information about your health, injuries, medical conditions and any other circumstances that could affect your safe participation.
-
You are responsible for informing Shelley promptly of any change in your health, circumstances or medication that could affect your yoga practice. This includes new injuries, operations, diagnoses, pregnancy, changes in mobility or ability, new symptoms, changes to an existing condition, changes in medication, or any other information you feel Shelley needs to know to help you practise safely in class.
-
This responsibility continues throughout your attendance, even if you have already completed a health questionnaire.
-
Please speak to Shelley before class if you are unsure whether a particular movement or practice is suitable for you.
-
Work within your own limits, avoid movements that cause pain or feel unsafe, and stop if you feel unwell or experience concerning symptoms.
-
Where appropriate, seek advice from a suitably qualified healthcare professional about whether yoga or particular practices are suitable for you.
Shelley will use the information you provide to help make reasonable adjustments where possible. Please ensure that you communicate relevant changes so that appropriate precautions or modifications can be considered.
11. Illness, Dizziness and Accidents During Class
Yoga involves physical movement, changes in posture and breathing practices, and individuals may respond differently to these activities. Each student is responsible for being aware of their own body, working within their individual abilities and limitations, and choosing whether to participate in any particular movement or practice.
If you feel dizzy, faint, nauseous, unwell, unusually breathless or experience pain or other concerning symptoms during class, you must stop practising and inform Shelley immediately. Please do not attempt to continue or push through symptoms. Students should also make Shelley aware before class of any relevant health concerns or changes that could affect their ability to participate safely.
Shelley will take reasonable care when planning and teaching classes and will offer assistance if a student becomes unwell or has an accident. However, students should understand that unexpected medical episodes, dizziness, falls or other incidents can occur during physical activity, and Shelley cannot guarantee that these will not happen or assume responsibility for every incident that occurs during a class.
Where necessary, Shelley will take reasonable steps to assist, including seeking appropriate medical help. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any legal rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
12. Physical Adjustments and Consent
Shelley may offer physical adjustments or hands-on guidance during class to help you understand or adapt a yoga posture.
If you would prefer not to be touched or receive physical adjustments, please inform Shelley before class. You can also communicate this preference at any time during your practice.
Your comfort, personal boundaries and consent will be respected.
13. Phones, Eating and Drinking
-
Mobile phones must be switched off or placed on silent before class begins, so that everyone can practise without interruptions.
-
Eating is not permitted during class, including chewing gum.
-
Drinking during class is also not permitted unless you have discussed and agreed an exception with Shelley in advance, for example because of a medical condition, a medical need to eat, or a health-related reason such as a sore throat.
If you have a medical or health-related need to eat or drink during class, please speak to Shelley beforehand so that arrangements can be agreed.
14. Personal Belongings and Valuables
All personal belongings and valuables are the student’s own responsibility.
Shelley accepts no responsibility for items that are lost, misplaced or left behind. She will always try to help you locate a missing item where possible, but responsibility for keeping your belongings safe remains with you.
Please check that you have all your belongings before leaving class.
15. Class Times and Communication
Please arrive on time so that the class can begin and finish as scheduled.
Classes will aim to finish at the advertised time. Any additional time previously offered beyond the scheduled class is not guaranteed.
Shelley may provide support and respond to messages outside class where possible, but this is not a substitute for medical advice or emergency support. Responses outside teaching hours are not guaranteed.
16. Respect, Fairness and Ahimsa
Shelley aims to create a welcoming, respectful and supportive environment for all students.
The principle of ahimsa, or non-harming, extends to everyone involved, including the teacher. Consistent booking arrangements help ensure fairness to students, protect the time and income needed to sustain the classes, and allow Shelley to maintain a healthy balance between teaching, personal time and family life.
Genuine personal difficulties can be discussed respectfully, but flexibility and exceptions cannot be assumed. Booking arrangements will be applied consistently wherever possible.
Agreement
By booking a class, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions and agree to follow the booking, payment, health, safety and participation arrangements outlined above.
Thank you for your understanding, consideration and continued support.
